What I found auditing my Geneva clients' websites (and how AI changes everything)

Do you know how many visitors your website lets slip away every month?

Good evening Geneva,

Last week, a client showed me his stats.

1,200 visitors a month on his website. 2 quote requests this quarter.

I looked at him. He looked at me.

"I don't get it, Salim. My site looks good. My work is good. People come. But nobody gets in touch."

1,198 people walking past his digital storefront every month… taking a look… and vanishing into thin air. Forever.

And you know what? His case isn't unique.

I see the same pattern at 90% of the Geneva businesses I meet. A clean website. Good content. Traffic. But a gaping hole in the middle: no mechanism to capture those visitors before they evaporate.

So I figured I'd write to all of you at once, to show you how to plug that hole and why AI makes it 10x easier than it used to be.

The concept (almost) everyone in Geneva is missing: the Lead Magnet

So what exactly is a lead magnet?

It's something so useful that people hand over their email without a second thought to get it.

Not a generic PDF recycled from 2019. A real solution to a real problem your potential clients have.

And the numbers speak for themselves:

Pages with a lead magnet convert at 18% on average, versus 2-3% for a standard website. And quizzes and interactive tools? They convert about 70% of the time, versus 36% for passive content.

Do the math: out of 1,000 visitors, a site without a lead magnet captures 20-30 emails. A site with a good interactive quiz? 200 to 400 emails. And 50% of marketers report higher conversion rates when they use lead magnets.

That's the difference between a business that stalls and a business that grows.

Why is it so powerful?

Three reasons:

1. People judge what you sell by what you give away for free.

If your free content is exceptional, they think: "If this is the free stuff, imagine what I get when I pay…"

On the flip side, if your lead magnet is bad, they associate your business with that mediocrity. And they tell people about it.

2. Someone who invests their time now will invest their money later.

It's psychological. When someone spends 10 minutes on your free content, they've already taken a first step toward you. The second step (paying) feels much more natural.

3. The "problem-solution cycle" works in your favor.

Here's the secret few people understand: every problem you solve reveals a new one.

Your lead magnet solves one specific problem. But by solving it, it shows the prospect they have ANOTHER problem that your paid offer can solve.

It's like the free pretzels at a bar. They solve the hunger problem. But they create a new one: thirst. And that's when you order a drink.

Your lead magnet is your pretzel.

The 3 types of Lead Magnets (and how to pick yours)

Type 1: The Problem Revealer

You show your prospects a problem they didn't even know they had.

These lead magnets are devastatingly effective when the problem gets worse over time. You create natural urgency.

Examples:

  • An SEO audit that shows why Google ignores them

  • A financial health check that reveals how much they lose every month to invisible inefficiencies

  • A review of their LinkedIn profile that exposes the mistakes keeping them invisible

This is for you if: your potential clients don't yet realize they have a problem.

Type 2: The Sample / The Trial

You give a taste of your solution. A limited version, but good enough to make them want more.

Examples:

  • A 7-day free trial of your software

  • A free first coaching session

  • The first module of a course

  • A 15-minute consultation

This is for you if: once people get a taste of what you do, they don't want to go back.

Type 3: One Step of the Process

You solve ONE part of their problem. It gives them real value, but it also reveals how complex the rest is and why they need you for what comes next.

Examples:

  • A template for the first step of a 5-step process

  • A guide that helps them get started on their own (but shows all the work still ahead)

  • The first 2 videos of a 10-part series

  • A calculator that gives them part of the answer

This is for you if: you sell something complex with several phases.

The 4 delivery formats

Once you've picked your TYPE, you pick your FORMAT:

1. Tools / Software Calculators, quizzes, spreadsheets, automated diagnostics. People love tools that give them a personalized result instantly.

2. Information / Education PDF guides, video mini-courses, checklists, webinars. The classic, and it still works if the content is genuinely good.

3. Services Free consultations, personalized audits, case reviews. More time-consuming for you, but very high perceived value.

4. Physical Books sent by mail, printed workbooks. Rare, and therefore memorable.

The sweet spot? Combine a TYPE and a FORMAT that fit your business.

A problem revealer + an automated tool = a diagnostic quiz. A sample + information = a free first course module. One step of the process + a service = a 20-minute strategy call.

Why AI changes absolutely everything

OK, at this point you might be thinking: "Great, Salim, but I don't have 3 weeks to spend on this."

And this is where it gets interesting.

Creating a good lead magnet used to take weeks of work. Today, with AI, you can put out something solid in a few hours.

But the real shift isn't just in how fast you can create it. It's what AI lets you BUILD as a lead magnet.

The AI-powered Lead Magnet

Picture this on your website:

Your visitor lands. They see: "Get your personalized diagnosis in 2 minutes".

They click. They answer 5-7 questions about their situation.

And then the AI instantly generates:

  • A personalized analysis of THEIR specific situation

  • The 3 main problems they need to tackle first

  • A concrete action plan tailored to THEIR context

  • Tailor-made recommendations

Not a generic PDF that 10,000 people receive. A diagnosis made for them, in real time.

Why is it so powerful?

  • Perceived value goes through the roof. In the prospect's eyes, personalized content is worth 100x more than a generic guide.

  • The conversion rate is 3 to 5x higher than classic lead magnets. Good quiz lead magnets can capture contact details from 20 to 40% of users, and in the best cases, up to 60%.

  • You stand out immediately. While your competitors offer "10 tips for..." PDFs, you offer a real tailor-made analysis.

  • AI works 24/7. Your lead magnet generates personalized analyses at 3 a.m. while you sleep.

And the craziest part? Personalized calculators have generated up to 45% of total revenue in some client case studies. When your prospect sees numbers calculated for THEIR situation, the offer becomes concrete. Real. Urgent.

Concrete examples to inspire you

  • A business coach → "Growth Diagnosis": 7 questions, and the AI generates a report on the 3 priority levers for scaling

  • An accountant → "Quick Tax Check": a few details about their situation, and the AI spots possible tax savings

  • An HR consultant → "Employer Brand Score": a questionnaire that analyzes how attractive the company is

  • An architect → "Project Estimator": the prospect describes their project, and the AI gives a budget range and a typical timeline

  • A trainer → "Skill Level Assessment": a quiz that identifies gaps and recommends a personalized learning path

The AI does the analysis. You collect emails from people who have already received value from you.

How to build yours (without spending a month on it)

Here's the process I use with my clients:

Step 1: Identify THE problem (30 min)

Ask yourself this question: What problem do my clients have BEFORE they work with me?

Not a vague problem. A specific, painful one.

Step 2: Pick your type + format (15 min)

  • Revealer, Sample, or One Step?

  • Tool, Information, Service, or Physical?

Step 3: Find an irresistible name (30 min)

The title does 80% of the work. A good title = specific + clear benefit + curiosity.

"Marketing guide" → Bad. "The 5 mistakes that drive your clients away (and how to fix them this week)" → Better. "Diagnosis: find out why your website doesn't convert" → Even better.

Step 4: Create the content with AI (2-4h)

  • Use Claude or ChatGPT to structure and write

  • Add your expertise and your concrete examples

  • If it's an interactive AI tool, get help building it (or get in touch)

Step 5: Put it front and center (not in a corner)

Your lead magnet has to be visible. On your homepage. In your bio. Everywhere.

Your action plan for this week

  1. Identify THE problem your clients have before they contact you

  2. Decide: Revealer, Sample, or One Step?

  3. Think it through: could an interactive AI tool work for your business?

  4. Test 3 titles with 5 people in your network

  5. Build a V1: even if it's imperfect, it'll be 1000x better than nothing

The best time to create your lead magnet was 6 months ago.

The second best time? This week.
