What decision will you make this week because of AI?
The question most people never ask themselves.

It's past midnight, and I'm writing to you because something big just hit me, after feedback from a reader on issue #1 of Ergon Report. Exactly one month after it went out.
I didn't see it while writing it, but I just reread it, and it's something you need to know too, especially if you make important decisions in your company. Even if you never read the report.
It's a point I made in the report, but until readers wrote back, I hadn't realized how much it matters.
Every issue of Ergon Report gives three lists of decisions to make about AI. This week. In six months. In eighteen months.
What I hadn't seen is that most leaders handle these three lists backwards.
They pour all their energy into the eighteen-month decisions, because those are the most visible, the ones with the best story, the ones that get discussed in board meetings. And they let this week's decisions slip by, because they look like day-to-day stuff and don't seem strategic.
In a world where AI moves this fast, that's exactly what no longer works:
Nobody can seriously decide eighteen months out without a sharp understanding of what's changing this week.
With AI, this week's decisions aren't some lesser subset. They're the only ones that make the others possible.
Imagine you'd read the "this week" list from issue #1 on April 12. Here's the month you would probably have had:
-
A recurring meeting you would have cancelled, because AI already does what used to happen in it, and nobody around the table had said it out loud.
-
An automation proposal you would have turned down, because rereading the slide you'd have seen it was selling a strategic copilot when it was mostly automating judgment you needed to keep in-house.
-
And a single question, asked in an interview with a senior candidate, that would have tipped your decision in a direction you didn't expect.
Three decisions. One week. And that's just the "this week" list.
The six-month and eighteen-month decisions become possible to make as these insights pile up. Not before.
Today, reading this, you have exactly the same one-month head start the first readers had on April 12.
The only question is whether you use it.

I'm writing this now because if I wait until tomorrow I'll polish it, and it won't be the same idea anymore.
