My new employee never asks questions
Zero questions. Zero improvising. Zero mistakes.

I got a new employee last week.
And I'm going to lie to you for the next 2 minutes. But keep reading, because this lie could change the way you work.
Whether you're an employee or an employer, you know onboarding is THE make-or-break moment.
So here's how I did it. And fair warning: I was relentless.
Day 1: The guidelines
"You use THIS tone. These words? Banned. Every email follows THIS structure. Period."
Day 2: The processes
"The color is #FF6B35. Not 'an orange that looks close'. The font is Montserrat Bold. Not 'some modern font'."
Day 3: The examples
"This is good. Do exactly this. This is terrible. NEVER do this."
Awful management, right? No human should have to put up with that.
But after 3 days, this person was producing work EXACTLY the way I wanted. No questions asked. No "doing it their own way".
Remember the lie?
It didn't take 3 days. It took 5 minutes.
Because my "employee"... is Claude, the AI.
What I just described is Claude Skills, Anthropic's new feature.

The idea?
An onboarding file you hand to Claude. Except it never forgets it. And it applies it perfectly. Every single time.
It's a simple text file with: a name, a description, instructions, examples.
You don't need to know how to code.
How to create your first Skill in 5 minutes
1. Ask Claude to create it for you
Open a conversation with Claude and type:
"Help me create a skill for [whatever you want]"
For example:
-
"Help me create a skill for writing emails in my brand voice"
-
"Help me create a skill for creating sales presentations"
Claude will ask you a few questions: What tone? What rules? Any examples?
Just answer naturally, as if you were explaining it to a colleague.
2. Download the file
Once Claude understands what you need, it generates a .zip file.
Click on it to download it to your computer.
3. Turn on the Skill in Claude
Go to claude.ai, then:
Settings → Capabilities → Skills → "Upload skill"
Select your .zip file.
Done. Your Skill is live.
From now on, every time you ask Claude for a task related to that Skill, it will apply YOUR rules automatically.
📺 If you're more of a visual learner, I really liked this YouTube tutorial:
Why does this matter so much?
Before: copy-pasting the same prompt, re-explaining your context, hoping Claude would remember (spoiler: it doesn't).
Now: you train Claude ONCE. It applies your rules automatically, forever.
3 Skill ideas to get started:
-
Brand Voice: Your tone, your expressions, your banned words
-
Email Templates: The structure of your client/prospect emails
-
Report Generator: The exact format of your weekly reports
